Welcome Water Main Initiative
Council authorized Municipal staff to finalize a scope of work and to engage CIMA + to initiate the detailed design in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Transportation and the Municipality of Port Hope for extending the Municipal mater main to Welcome, in accordance with the Environmental Assessment.
At the meeting, Mayor Sanderson read a letter addressed to the Municipality from the Ministry of Transportation, advising that the waterline extension into the Hamlet of Welcome has been approved for funding through the Ministry’s operational budget in the amount of $2,500,000.
Memorandum of Agreement
Council passed a By-Law to authorize execution of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between McMaster University, Loyalist College of Applied Arts and Technology and the Municipality of Port Hope to Investigate opportunities for the Development of a Centre of Excellence to create education opportunities, conduct research and develop emergent environmentally sustainable technologies. The MOA between the parties will ensure collaboration and appropriate and effective levels of communication in support of this partnership, identify regular meetings and schedules, and provide a channel for sharing of progress updates and a commitment to work jointly to formalize the long-term partnership.
Minutes from this meeting will be available pending approval at the next Council meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at which point they will become the official record of the meeting.
