Municipality of Port Hope Under Burn Restriction

For Immediate Release

Friday, July 13, 2018 - Port Hope, ON

Residents are advised that the Municipality of Port Hope is under a Burn Restriction, as of Friday, July 13, 2018.

Restricted burning means that small, contained campfires are permitted but no other open air burning is allowed. The restricted burn enforces a ban on burning brush, grass, incinerators, etc.

Municipality of Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services will continue to monitor conditions and will adjust the ban accordingly, if needed.

Residents can also monitor conditions via the Natural Resources Canada website.

Municipalities under Restricted Burning as of July 13, 2018 include:

  • Township of Alnwick Haldimand
  • Town of Cobourg
  • Township of Hamilton
  • Municipality of Port Hope
  • Municipality of Trent Hills

Municipalities under Complete Burn Bans as of July 13, 2018 include:

  • The Municipality of Brighton
  • The Township of Cramahe

Residents are reminded that Burn Permits can be obtained through the Fire Department, but are available to rural residents only. Open air burning is not permitted in the urban area.
