The 2026 Mayor’s Budget is now available for public review on the Budget Engagement webpage at engage.porthope.ca/2026-budget.
At a Special Council Meeting held on Tuesday, January 13, Council reviewed and discussed the staff-proposed budget collaboratively. Highlights from the meeting can be found in the latest Council newsletter.

Please be advised that due to significant weather conditions municipal facilities will be closed as of 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026. These facilities include:
- Town Hall
- Development Team Office (5 Mill Street South)
- Port Hope Public Library
- Jack Burger Sports Complex
- Town Park Recreation Centre
- Fire Administration Office
- Transit Services

The Municipality of Port Hope has declared a Significant Weather Event due to heavy snowfall and blowing winds, as defined within the Minimum Maintenance Standards Regulation Ont 239/02. Conditions are expected to continue throughout the day.

Update 9:00 a.m.: Transit Services are no longer running due to weather and road conditions. This will be reassessed this afternoon. Stay tuned for updates. Initial Project Description submitted for New Nuclear project at Wesleyville Site in Port Hope

The Municipality of Port Hope is sharing that Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has submitted its Initial Project Description (IPD) for the proposed New Nuclear project at the Wesleyville site in Port Hope to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC).
