2020 Proposed Budget to be Considered by Municipality of Port Hope Council at Regular Meeting, December 17

MEDIA ADVISORY

Friday, December 13, 2019 - Port Hope, ON

Members of the media and the public are advised that the 2020 proposed budget will be presented to Council at the next regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.

The Budget Committee deliberated for two days in an open, public meeting, on December 9 and December 11, to review and discuss the draft 2020 financial plan. At the close of the meeting, the Budget Committee passed the budget and, in accordance with the procedural By-law, it will be presented to Council for final Municipal approval.

The proposed Budget is a 2.5% levy requirement increase after growth, and includes capital projects and operating items such as Lakeshore Road Reconstruction, rural road resurfacing, designs for an addition to the Town Park Recreation Centre (to accommodate a new Seniors Centre), a splash pad, and the design for renovations of the Welcome Fire Station.

The 2020 proposed budget documents, including comment forms, as well as the recordings of the Budget Committee two-day meeting can be reviewed at porthope.ca/budget. Residents can submit their feedback until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019.
