Port Hope’s Signature Events Recognized Among Ontario’s Best

For the fourth year in a row, the Municipality of Port Hope’s flagship events, the Candlelight Festival and the Arts Festival, have earned spots on Festivals & Events Ontario’s (FEO) 2026 Top 100 Festivals and Events list.
This distinction considers events that have community impact, originality, economic benefits and overall popularity. Being named on the Top 100 list recognizes these festivals as exceptional leaders in the industry.
Half-Load Restrictions Begin on Municipal Roads

During the spring thaw, most rural roads become too soft to withstand the weight of a fully loaded truck, regardless of the number of axles.
To reduce damage to our roads during this time of year, weight restrictions of five tonnes per axle (half-loads) on all rural roads within the Municipality of Port Hope are imposed from March 1 to April 30, 2026.
The restriction timeline may be altered as conditions are monitored.

Update: 2/26/26:
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue adjusting our Cobourg Service to better support the needs of our residents. To help improve access, we’ll be incorporating additional scheduled Cobourg runs (on top of our on‑call service, whenever the ROLLS van is available).

Council at the Committee of the Whole meeting of February 3, 2026 considered Staff Report WE-01-26 – Garden Hill Dam Environmental Assessment.
At this meeting, Council directed staff to invite Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) and County of Northumberland to provide more information to Council related to this matter at a future meeting no later than the end of February 2026.
