Municipality of Port Hope Council 2014-2018

Council has introduced a combined meeting approach with Committee of the Whole and Regular Council meetings to be convened on the same evening, the first and third Tuesdays of the month commencing at 6:30 p.m.

Statutory Public meetings as required, would be convened on the first and third Wednesdays commencing at 6:30 p.m.

These meetings are open to the public.

Stay up to date with all Council proceedings by subscribing to the Council Portal and have agendas and minutes delivered by e-mail in real time.

What is a delegation?

Any member of the public may make a presentation to Council. This type of presentation is referred to as a delegation and normally takes place at a Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting (every second Tuesday at 6:30pm in Council Chambers).

How do I arrange to appear as a delegation at Council?

  • Complete the Delegation Request Form and end your request to the Director of Corporate Services/Clerk at clerk@porthope.ca along with a copy of the presentation material. Requests must be received no later than 4pm on the Wednesday before the next COW meeting
  • Once your delegation and presentation material has been approved, the Clerk's office will contact you to confirm details
  • Delegations are limited to 10 minutes - the time limit is strictly observed
  • Your name and a full copy of your presentation appear as part of the COW agenda, which is distributed in advance of the meeting, posted on the Municipal website and becomes part of the public record

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct provides rules and lists prohibitions for Council and to establish roles and responsibilities for Council and Senior Staff to promote accountability and transparency in Municipal Governance respecting: business relations, conduct at meetings, conduct of a political nature, conduct respecting staff, conducting respecting representing the Municipality, protection of confidential information, discreditable conduct, employment of relatives, failure to adhere to Council policies and procedures, receipt of gifts and benefits, and use of Municipal property. Additional information is available here.
